Foundation Training
Foundation Training helps create a strong and long core to support the movements of the spine as well as the extremities.
Foundation Training was created by Dr. Eric Goodman, D.C. in our lovely town of Santa Barbara. It is now helping athletes and people world-wide through their online videos and subscription service.
Most people come into the office with symptoms that include back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, or hip pain. Chiropractic adjustments help to free the joints and reinitiate appropriate nerve communication to these areas, then Foundation Training helps you learn to interact with the muscles that control these areas so you have a basis of dialogue between what your brain wants to do and what your body does.
I recommend some version of these exercises to everyone who comes into my office at some stage of their recovery. Foundation Training teaches you to activate the core and spinal stabilizer muscles in order to move your body in a way that is safe, efficient, and powerful.
Foundation Training is a constant part of my day and my most general recommendation is to try to do the Founder pose 15-20 times per day, it takes less than 60 seconds at first and as little as 3 seconds once you've got it mastered. Ask during your visit if this recommendation is appropriate for you.
A number of gyms in Santa Barbara use Foundation Training as the base of their strength training programs. If you would like to explore the technique past where these videos can take you, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction!
